Chamber Music Groups The Phaeton Piano Trio.

The Phaeton Piano Trio unites Friedemann Eichhorn, Peter Hörr and Florian Uhlig, three sought-after German artists of international calibre, to form one of the most exciting piano trios on the international concert scene. Having performed as soloists in key venues across Europe, Asia and America for more than twenty years, The Phaeton Piano Trio has appeared in prestigious music centres.

Following their South American debut at the Fondacion Beethoven, Santiago de Chile, in 2020, the trio had a hugely successful USA debut tour with performances at the Library of Congress, Washington, and the Frick Collection, New York. Forthcoming CD projects include the Schumann piano trios for Hänssler Classic.

Violinist Friedemann Eichhorn celebrated his debut with the Orchestra di Santa Cecilia di Roma and Antonio Pappano, playing Fazil Say’s Violin Concerto at the Spoleto Festival in the summer of 2021. Following the premiere performance of Fazil Say’s Violin Sonata No. 2, together with the composer at the Istanbul Festival, Friedemann Eichhorn’s concert schedule of 2022 will see debuts with the Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Christoph Eschenbach. In 2020, Friedemann Eichhorn’s recording of Fazil Say’s violin works with the composer, the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie and Christoph Eschenbach for the Naxos label garnered numerous accolades.

In 2020/21, cellist Peter Hörr released a recording of the complete works for cello and piano by Beethoven, together with pianist Liese Klahn, under the auspices of Deutschlandfunk and Klassik Stiftung Weimar. BR Klassik notes: “Peter Hörr’s and Liese Klahn’s freshness and impulsiveness are great. It’s a joy to hear how much they follow Beethoven’s wish that instrumental music, too, should sing: each phrase breathes, speaks and has a goal.“ In 2022, Peter Hörr will perform Schubert symphonies and Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D major with the Orchester le phénix in Switzerland, both as soloist and conductor.

In a SWR 2 radio broadcast pianist Florian Uhlig, recently appointed honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music in London, said: “The Schumann project has kept me very busy during the last 12 years.” After more than a decade, Uhlig’s release of Vol. 15 marks the culmination of his recording of the complete works for piano solo by Robert Schumann for the Hänssler Classic label. The recording has been nominated for the Annual Prize of the German Record Critics’ Award 2021. As Artist-in-Residence at the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin during the season 2021/22 Florian Uhlig will perform numerous concerts, including Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
