Conductors NIKOS HALIASSAS.

​​Born in Athens in 1968. He studied violin with Tatsis Apostolidis at the Athens Conservatory and graduated in 1989 with the soloist diploma. He was immediately accepted with an entrance exhibition at the Royal Academy of Music in London and commenced postgraduate studies with Howard Davis. He graduated in 1990 with the diploma of advanced studies and was offered a place at the Royal College of Music to continue his studies with Grigory Zhislin. In 1992 he graduated with the postgraduate diploma, ARCM. In both institutes, he followed lessons of conducting as a second study.

He has followed the postgraduate Conducting course at the Trinity College of Music with Peter Stark and graduated in 1999. He has taken conducting lessons and master classes with, Sergiu Celibidache, Jorma Panula, J. Foster, and Bernard Keefe. 

For his studies in London, he was awarded a scholarship from the Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.

As a conductor, he collaborates with: the Athens State Symphony Orchestra, the Athens Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Athens National Opera, the Cyprus State Symphony Orchestra, the Astana Symphony Orchestra, the Thüringen Symphoniker, the Swedish Musica Vitae, the Istanbul State Orchestra, the Izmir state Orchestra, the Antalya state Orchestra, the Bursa state Orchestra, the Eskişehir Symphony Orchestra, the Bodrum Chamber Orchestra, the Karsiyaka Chamber Orchestra, the Danish Royal Orchestra, the Estonian Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta, the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra, the Thessaloniki Municipality Symphony Orchestra and many other minor Orchestras and ensembles.  

Since 2012 το 2015 he was the Artistic Director of the “Sinfonia” International Music Festival at Piraeus and the Saronic Gulf islands.

Since  2016 he is Artistic Director of the "MusiKos" International Music Festival at the Dodecanes Islands. (www.mousikosfestival.gr)

Since 2018 he is Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Athens Camerata Youth Orchestra, based in Athens Concert Hall. 

Since 2021 he is Artistic Director of the Chalki Island International Music Festival "Dimitris Kremastinos" (www.chalkimusicfestival.gr)
